Euro 2016: Group C – Poland v Northern Ireland

Poland were the overwhelming favourites for this match so it was no surprise that they dominated the encounter and won comfortably.  The only surprise was that they didn’t get more goals and that Robert Lewandowski, their supreme goal machine, barely had a shot on goal.  Johnny Evans, once of Manchester United, did a sterling job of neutralising his threat, and overall Northern Ireland gave a good account of themselves but were simply beaten by a better team.
